Aithon Narlis

Dr. Aithon Odysseus Narlis has a rich career spanning over 35 years in the field of electronics and telecommunications. He completed his undergraduate studies at Istanbul Technical University, followed by a Master’s Degree in Telecommunications in 1984 and a PhD in Electronics and Telecommunications from the Institut National Polytechnique de Toulouse in 1988.
His professional journey began at the Hellenic Aerospace Industry (HAI) in 1988, where he worked as an R&D engineer. In 1996, he was appointed R&D Director of the HMoD Armament General Directorate, where he represented Greece on NATO’s Research and Technology Board. His contributions during this period laid the foundation for his later leadership roles.
Dr. Narlis returned to HAI in 1999 and became the Manager of the Space Applications Division in 2014. During this time, he initiated the Assembly Integration and Testing (AIT) facility for small satellites, a groundbreaking project supported by the European Space Agency. The AIT facility was instrumental in enabling Greece to independently manage satellite technology, significantly advancing the country’s space capabilities.
In 2021, Dr. Narlis was promoted to Director of the Electronics Manufacturing Plant at HAI, overseeing operations critical to Greece’s aerospace technology. Beyond his professional work, Dr. Narlis has also contributed to academia, serving as a visiting lecturer at various institutions, including the State University of Erevan, University of Patras, and the Hellenic Air Force Academy.
Throughout his career, Dr. Narlis has been dedicated to advancing telecommunications and aerospace technologies. He retired in May 2024, leaving behind a legacy of innovation and leadership that continues to influence the field of aerospace in Greece.
